Recently, New York and Company has become one of my favorite stores. You can get cute and professional clothes there at really, really great prices. They send out coupons to people on their e-mail lists just about once a week, and have sales very frequently - whether it's a certain dollar amount off of items, a percentage off, or buy-one-get-one-half-off. Really, it would be silly to ever pay full price there (unless it's an emergency!).
So I went to NY & Co. a couple of days ago, prepared with my coupon for $30 off a $75 purchase. They had very few full-price items, and all clearance was an additional 70% off redlines! That's 70% off already reduced prices! So after about an hour of trying on everything I could get my hands on, I ended up with two pairs of pants, two long sleeve button-down shirts, one short sleeve button-down shirt, a sweater vest/dress shirt combo (where the dress shirt is really sewn in, but it doesn't look like it), a short sleeve wrap-around shirt and two zipper-front hoodies. That's 7 shirts and 2 pairs of pants all for a grand total of...... $54!! (And that's rounded up from the actual total, which was $53 and change.) Not a bad deal at all!
If you haven't been there... you need to go! (But bring a coupon with you to get the best deal.)
If you're thinking of buying gift cards for your loved ones this holiday season, consider buying these. It seems that the "buy a gift card for someone else, get one for yourself" is going to be a trend this season! Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving - one that traditionally sees a ton of retail discounts as means to get retailers "back in the black" financially. Usually, stores don't release details of the sales they'll feature on the kickoff of the holiday shopping season until Thanksgiving (or sometimes the day before Thanksgiving), but some Web sites get a hold of stores' ads and post them before then. By doing a simple Google search for "Black Friday," you can find of plethora of these sites, but there are two I use the most - Black Friday Ads and Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com.
What I like about these two sites is that they present the sale information very systematically and neatly. It's very easy to find what you're looking for, especially if you search by store or by product. For example, on Black Friday Ads, if I decide I want to look for what digital cameras will be on sale on Black Friday, I can either click the "search" link and type in "digital camera." On Black Friday @ GottaDeal.com, I can simply click the "digital camera" link under the "Sales By Category" heading. Both sties offer links to the stores of which they have sale information - clicking these links will take you to a listing of all the deals that store will offer. So easy!
Both sites also offer straight item lists and scanned copies of the ads that will arrive at your doorstep right before the big day. They can really help you plan your trip if you're a heavy-duty Black Friday shopper, or if you're not, you can see if there might be a deal you would be willing to brave the biggest shopping day of the year for. Supposedly retail sales have been down this year, so keep watching these sites and expect some really great deals for Black Friday!
